Pair Carjacked In Newark By Trio Selling Phone Online

Police in Newark are seeking the public's help locating a vehicle that was carjacked out of the Central Ward Tuesday.

A driver and passenger pulled up to the 200 block of West Kinney Street to buy a cell phone from a male online seller when they were assaulted by the man and two others around 8:50 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.

The three individuals got into the victims' white 4-door 2013 BMW 328is and drove away, heading westbound on West Kinney Street, Ambrose said. 

The victims were taken to University Hospital for treatment and released.

The initial suspect is described as 6’4” tall with a muscular build and a light complexion. He was wearing a skull cap and no face mask.
